Adoption Process
Up for Adoption

The following dogs are available for adoption, to CT RESIDENTS ONLY... Scroll down the page to see them all (there may be several available at once). You may also have to refresh your browser to see new additions since you were last viewing this page.

Since we focus strictly on local dogs in need, we no longer have the volume of available dogs we once had when teaming with out of state rescue groups seeking New England homes for their needy dogs. If we do not have a dog for you, you can search for great dogs to adopt on Petfinder.com, or you can e-mail us for a referral to another rescue group and we will gladly point you in the right direction.

Note that we usually only have Golden Retrievers available, but there may be rare exceptions to that "Golden Rule." Be sure to also check our page at Petfinder.com for the most current list of our available dogs.

If you see a dog you are interested in, and you are a CT resident, please e-mail us and complete an online adoption application and submit it electronically ASAP.

Adoption status: ADOPTED FEBRUARY 2008
Comments: ADOPED - Boomer is a shy pure-bred Golden Boy in Tolland, CT, anxious for a new home but apprehensive of even the littlest change in his surroundings. He will need a very patient adopter who will help him adjust to everything new and who will be his best friend in the whole world. Boomer is 3 years old, neutered, up to date on all his shots and in fine health. He is a big Golden, weighing almost 90 pounds, and he loves to play fetch with a ball or a Frisbee. Although very timid and unsure at first, he is good with other dogs and with people and older children (probably too unpredictable to live with young kids, though). Boomer is scared of cats but currently lives with a smaller dog and teenage and older children. However, he is extremely shy when meeting a new person and is reluctant to move from his family member to do a proper greeting. Boomer is a homebody, and has little or no experience on a leash. He is crated during the day when the family is at work and school, and sleeps in the crate at night, too. His canine house mate is the reason for this, as she is a bit of a terror and cannot be trusted to be alone loose, so Boomer and the small dog hang out in the same crate together. His family thinks he would do best with older children and another dog to bond with, and we would also recommend a fenced yard so Boomer can play outdoors more regularly and get more exercise. It would also be great if Boomer found a new home where his people were home more regularly and where he did not need to be crated much at all, since he seems like a responsible lad himself. BOOMER HAS BEEN ADOPTED.
